Advice
I scouted this area with google and topo maps only. I had never placed a boot in these woods. The wind was out of the east to north-east. I was sitting at location 2. It was pretty much on top of the ridge. I was close to where the ditch meets the ridge top. The ridge height is much small than I am use to. I have a few questions.
I was on the leeward side of hill but pretty much on the ridge top. I could have dropped lower but it would seem like the deer would have had to walk up and down the steep ditches. What do you guys think about this? So I figured the deer would walk close to the ridge tops due to the ditches?
Is this a good rut funnel?
The area is all woods. Public Land.
thanks for all replies. It helps everyone learn.
FYI I did not see anything on this sit.

Re: Advice
I know that area Actually hunted pretty close to there a month or so back. It's been my experience on that public land the deer like the ridgetops, I wouldn't go any farther down. I've never been on that particular ridge but I assume that's mature timber? Look for thick patches along those ridgetops. Sometimes they are hard to find, but there are some. The deer desities are not that high there, but there are some good ones in there.

If it were me I'd move north or south and hunt on the hub. I also know this spot. Southernman and I have run around all over the place up there

Re: Advice
It was out of east that day. I based the location on that. Thanks for all the comments.

Re: Advice
We have had a buch of east based wind this year. Quite uncommon for this area in the past. Are you heading back up this weekend?

Re: Advice
They fish and wildlife department said acorn production was down this year due to the last half of summer being so dry. I haven't seen many oaks with acorns and the few that do have them are far from loaded. When you planning to make another trip. Ill be up there tomorrow and planning an all day sit on the 14th.
