When do you see the earliest and FARTHEST daylight movement of 3 yr old and older bucks? I know moon days, cold fronts, pre rut all get them going early, how do you rank them? Is one better than others? All 3 lining up would be great. Any other things that make em move early and farther from bed?

I think a strong cold front trumps the others in my opinion

Yep, I would rank them cold front, moon and then general rut. The more combinations you can work in there the better. And more important than any of these is your location, if you aren't setup close to a buck you probably aren't going to be in the game.

Cold front on a moon day during the rut
Personally I would say rut gets them moving more than anything, you see bucks you would never see otherwise in places at times you would never see them otherwise. The cold fronts and moon days they just get a little further from the bed, you still generally need to be set up pretty well to encounter a good one IMO. Although the same can happen during the rut, I have been setup near bedding during peak rut and had bucks still not work within range before lights out…
IDK, hunt 'em all!

Ya no doubt the rut is the driving factor for all of it. With that said I just see that much better movement when other factors kick it up a notch. MN also opens rifle season in early Nov so the daytime rutting can get turned off in a single day so anything I can do to raise those odds sure does help.

Thanks guys, I have a good one Im after still, I just cant get super close to his bed, no permission. I dont know if I want to hunt right on the edge and risk pushing him, or just hold off 2-3 more weeks and he will start showing up on safer access stands.

I'm the same right now. I'm within a hundred yards of a target buck bed but it's on neighboring private land. On good cold fronts I have seen him come out early on the neighbor's field but not my side of the property like he did in the summer. Fortunately all the good does are on my side of the property so I might have to wait him out till he cruises. 2-3 weeks wait is not so bad at this point. Maybe you can focus some of your energy on locating good does so when he cruises you will know likely spots that he will be.

This is true, you can sit an unseasonably warm day during the rut in a good spot and not see squat...

This is what I'm after this year. With a spring of work travel and a summer of house moving, all with a new baby - makes for some tough times hunting this year!
