Weirdo's in Waukesha Wisconsin

Unread postby robert richer » Thu Nov 04, 2010 4:26 am

Listen to this;

I was out scouting in Waukesha on this private land that I have permission to hunt and I found the strangest thing(s). There were 3 different string attachments located on my path to my stand attached at a heights between my knees and hip to sticks(kinda like a field goal post) as though someone wanted me to walk through them, kinda trippin them off?....what the heck do you think this person is doing?.

Remind you it is private property(no one else is allowed to hunt it per landowner) although there are neighbors surroundin the area......do you think someone else is huntin my stand and wantin to see If Iam out there or not or do you think someone is just playin games?.

Havent hunted the stand,I was saving/keepin out of this spot for the rut and late season.....

Any thoughts?

Wow... That IS weird.

Sounds like someone thinks you're on THEIR land and seeing if you're coming out to the stand they found. Is it a pretty obvious trail you travel to your stand?

Maybe it's as you suggested, perhaps someone else is hunting your stand and wants to know when his time runs up - I dunno, sounds silly. Kind of weird tha it's as obvious as it is, too. You'd think they would be a little more careful about that..

if you can hide a trail camera some how that would be nice but it would have to be a no flashing one...its pretty risky to hang one tho in hopes they dont steal it...

I don't think kids would be that smart to know your trail unless its really marked well? Maybe a not very intelligent, very young hunter would do something like this. Or a crazy person!

Meth heads....cooking and want to know if someone else is around. Use caution.

I don't know about meth heads...too much traffic in Waukesha. I hunted a decent size piece of property in New Berlin last year and was shocked by the lack of consideration of other bowhunters out there. There is no respect whatsoever for propery boundaries and every person you encounter acts like they are the taxpaying landowner. Its ridiculous. The place I hunted was owned by a buddies grandpa and sold to a different friends parents. The new owners are anti-hunters and one of the tresspassing neighbors had the nerve to complain about losing his great spot and how he was getting "screwed" while I was taking my stand now. It seems as though they are dense or something to think that they just deserve it or can be out there and govern what happens. I'm sure its someone monitoring your use of the place. The one neighbor would cruise up and down the road I parked on checking when my truck was there and when I came and left. People are weird carry a sidearm ;)

I remember your story... Cleveland & Johnson, right?

I always see a grey pick up parked there (across from driving range). Is that yours?

Went out last night, cold and windy.....When I setttled in and started to watch the woods i noticed a trail camera facing north / north west.....and a real nice sumit climber on a base of treeon my friends property.This is freakin weird and dam right stupid, trespassing 100%

Here is what I did;

I went back to my truck and wrote a very nice note and held it a couple of times in front of the camera.

The note stated this;

Hi its me,you must be mistaken in regards to property lines, to clarify please contact this number so we can discuss property lines...gave my cell number...p.s. if I should find this camera or any deer stand without you contacting me within the 3 days you will be able to pick it up at the sheriffs department...thanxs

Kinda stupid note, hopefully gets the point across...I dont think this was the string person though...I dont know whole thing is weird.

Cut the strings and take them out of there.

I had a similar thing happen on public land the other day. I set up in my best rut spot in the dark and once it got light out I noticed a treestand along with screw in tree steps and excessive tree trimming about 15 yards from me. This is totally illegal on federal public land. Nobody showed up so I stayed in this spot all day. Wouldn't you know it 2 hours before closing this yahoo shows up acting all tough because I set up right by his treestand. I told him....first thing..I set up in total darkness and had no idea that his stand was here...second thing...a federal warden was out here because he had a report of an illegal treestand and was wondering if I know who's it was because he has three tickets waiting for this individual. I told the guy that the warden is probably waiting for him to come out with his treestand and screw in steps. Suddenly the guy became really stupid and said "Oh yeah that's not my stand that must be somebody else's, I was sitting down there further. Since you are sitting here I will go somewhere else"
I hate people that set up stands on public and try to claim the area as their own so I can understand how much more angry you can be about the same on private land. If I was you I would have called the warden immediately with a gps coordinate and have him wait for the guy to show up. Some people just think that rules do not apply to them. :evil:

WOW, Dewey - crazy run-in. Sorry to hear... Assuming your hunt was screwed, too!

RR, dude, Blair Witch is upon your field.. I love the letter in front of the trail camera, it's priceless. Can you imagine reeling through your pics and seeing that? Anyways, did you see any deer that night?

The crazy thing was that that day was one of my best hunts ever even with all of the commotion. After the guy left the action was unbelievable the last two hours!! Thank god the wind was good but all of the extra human intrusion seemed to kill everything the next day.

Robert I would set up a hidden camera angled down from in a tree to identify this guy before he pulls out of there. If he isn't caught chances are he will tresspass again.
