Deer hunting has taught me to assume nothing and always keep my mind open. Scent is one of the few stead fast rules of whitetails. I to heard some grunting and half hearted chasing. Its good to questioned but hardly ever rule out anything in the whitetail world.

During the late season i would hunt in my back yard, i shot a doe one evening that died under my bedroom window...sad part was i had to drag it up hill to the skinning shed
