Always hunting the leeward side? What if you're doe hunting?

Hey guys - so where I hunt there are way, way too many does. Not only do you have to shoot 2 does before you can "earn a buck" you then need 3 more before your second buck etc. Our herd is out of whack and we need to kill does.

I have watched the "Hill Country Bucks" DVD about 15 times. I'm obsessed. Every time I watch it I learn something new. I have started doing the "Beast Hunting" strategy and it definitely works for bucks.

I'm interested in how you guys would change your tactics, if at all, for hunting does. I'm thinking that you could hunt them the same way, buy identifying their bedding areas and under what wind they are bedding there - then trying to intercept them between where they are feeding and the bed - or waiting by the bed in the AM for them to come back to it since they seem to always do that in the morning hours.

Any other tactics you guys would employ to harvest as many does as possible?

I would also like to know more about this. I realize doe bedding is not as set in stone as buck bedding because they change as the food does however I would like to know how you guys go about doe hunting if you do. Is it mostly hunting food? Hunting known doe bedding areas? Thanks guys

What if you're in big woods where it's hard to determine the food source?

Acorn flats seem to be very good for early season doe activity for me

Hunt the wide well used deer trails with lots of fresh tracks of different size between food and bed.Probably a doe group trail.

your right on....if that's all I'm after is a doe...i would walk through a woods looking for a "well used trail"then know which way it comes and where it goes(bed-food) set up on the down wind side and shoot the best/fattest doe that comes down the trail.
