The Hunting Beast

I under estimated how difficult it is to walk into a new area and try to set up. There are so many variables to this style of hunting and boy is it frustrating. Bought an XOP stand and sticks last month, read a bunch of forum post and watched lots of youtube videos and thought I was ready to go. Not even close. My first hunt I hiked In 3/4 of a mile onto some public ground that I scouted via google earth. Doesnt work. This is a whole nother world, but its great fun. Shot a personal best 100" 3.5 year old Saturday on private ground, sat in the same stand I have for the last 6 years. Go figure.

If it aint broke dont fix it! I have hunted public and private this year. I have truly enjoyed this season more for the reason you listed...so much unknown. It has been a fun adventure...it is tough, and a lot choose differently. Having the right gear that allows mobility is huge. I like a mix and love the challenge.
