Walking the swamp edge, how far inside woodline?

i'm planning a hang & hunt later this week at a swamp in the area. i've never set foot in there before, but i suspect there may be some bedding action on a couple of the points. i was planning to walk the edge looking for sign, but how far back from the edge of the swamp should i stay? i don't want to booger it up by getting too close. 50 yards too close? looks to be fairly heavily wooded.

I walk pretty close to the swamp edge... Probably 50 feet, except when it comes to finger points. They are often bedded right on the end of fingers so I stay out by the mouth.

wow, 50 feet. i expected much more than that. i'm glad though, i'm one of those curious people who sometimes encroach a little too far just to see what there is to see. the points i'm looking to check out aren't fingers but rather big, say 100 yards in width, so i should be ok i think. thanks dan.
