First Filmed Hunt

Unread postby wibowhunt4me » Mon Oct 06, 2014 1:05 pm

After spending a summer of putting in food plots and doing other land management projects on our hunting lease we finally get the opportunity to hunt. I also spent a lot of time picking Bowhunter15's brain on what cameras to use, camera arm, and other insightful tips on self filming hunts. Well as of right now I can't afford a new computer to run the editing software that I would like to use for my videos so I just used Movie Maker and cropped the footage. I have talked to Bowhunter 15 about things I could do to make things look more professional and cleaner. If any other Beast have some insights it would be great. Well to the hunt. It is opening night of the Wisconsin bow hunting season. I am sitting over one of the six food plots I put in this summer and I see a deer on the neighbors property heading my way. Our neighbors put in a 2 acre food plot and I believe the deer hit our plots while staging to go out into the larger plot. So here is the footage I put on You Tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmZdjoGmcoA

Way better than my first hand full of times. Congrats!! That deer really dropped before the arrow got there.

Hey, good job man. Footage looked good. Did you find that having the camera running increased the amount of pressure you felt? I have never filmed, but often wonder how much more nervous I'd be with the camera running.

Looked good to me.

Did your shot paralyze the buck?

After watching it again, I noticed another nice looking buck behind the one you hit.

Good job on getting it on tape. It's not easy to do.

I actually had to rewind and watch the shot again cause I was looking at the antlers in the background. Cool video!

Awesome video, good job. Can you comment on some of the decisions you made- ie equipment that you ended up getting, how you set things up, how much of a learning curve you felt there was..... what your going to look to improve

Took me a minute to see it. At first I thought it was the arrow because the way the buck fell and started to shake (thought the arrow when through his spinal column and kept going). After watching it a few more times I just watched behind the first one and than I could see he was there.
