Watch the squirrels and woodpeckers and wish I could get to some place that had deer coming though.

Also think of what I have to do next year to put myself in a better position to actually accomplish my goal of getting some deer.

I monitor the wind, thermals, squirrels, and I'll look at the time whenever I see deer.

I use the milk weeds quite a bit. Also have the phone app scoutlook which I think is pretty good. Not only does it give you an aerial view of your spot (which can zoom in pretty good) and temp. It also has"scent cone" which shows the aerial with the wind direction shaded in. you can than look ahead for each hour up to a whole day and it will show the wind changes. Anybody monitor the barometer to see how it effects deer movement?

True that.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I honestly check a lot of things. There's no way I can keep total attention on the hunt 100% of the time. I pay close attention to the wind and thermals with a baby powder checker, but only if the wind is being ignorant. I love to read on stand and I often read my book or the internet for 15-30 seconds and then scan my area for a minute and go back to my distraction. If I didn't have a distraction like I did yesterday when I only saw a few deer over 10 hours I'd go nuts.
