The Ultimate Beast hunt?

Unread postby bowmike » Fri Nov 01, 2013 6:45 am

Wondering if anyone on on here has went Primal Beast and snuck up on a buck in his bed and harvested him with archery equipment.

I read Dan did this in gun season, and went borderline swamp rat to do so. We just got rain and I am having this overwhelming urge to try and do this tonight, assuming the buck is still bedded at his location. Maybe I am just nuts, and should wait for a stand set up, but have a perfect wind, and perfect condition to try this.

Any thoughts on this?

Bucky was within inches last year and got it all on film, it incredible just to watch let alone if he had pulled it off.

I really want to try this late season. I have a bow only piece of public about 30 mins from my house. Found two good bedding areas loaded with hair, should be 'sneakable' as long as the wind cooperates.

Conditions were perfect, most intense hunt ever emotionally, and physically, planning every move, constantly watching wind, placing every foot down, with perscision, ultimate smoothness between obstacle, dressed in all of my quietest gear, buck just wasn't in his bed.

Rain stopped just as I was getting out of my car before going into house, and was contemplating calling it off, but just had one of those gut feelings. Gut was off today though. I think he is out of the are for a while now, and may have spooked last week. His bed did not look fresh from the distance I stayed away from it anyway.

A little bummed as I went on super stealth, mode and had high expectations, and a strong gut feeling, but hey that's hunting.

I got within 25 yards.... it was 20+ mph winds that night in the marsh. I came in from downwind and had to cross a creek that I took my pants off to wade across after my taller buddy the camera man jumped and hit muck up to his groin!

That too is on film... I was trying my hardest not to blow the hunt by laughing so hard I nearly choked myself!

I had it in 500 club... my photobucket account scrambles links every couple of weeks... I started to dig for it but had Halloween with family tonight. I will be on stand for a long time tomorrow... I will see if I can repost it. I saw that buck again Oct 27th and Nov 6th. Then I found him dead in Feb
