I hunt hilly terrain and I always look at how the wind is blowing at the time I will be hunting to set up accordingly. However I also look at how the wind was blowing in the early morning when the deer would have bedded. Tomorrow I will be hunting and it is one of the few times that I have found the wind is going to be changing 180 degrees from early morning to afternoon when I will be in the stand. During the approx. time the deer will be bedding for the day the wind is out of the South. By 4 in the afternoon they are calling for a NW wind.
Two questions.
Do you believe deer get up and move to the otherside of the ridge? I believe I saw this in the Hill Country Video.
With these unusual winds Would you do anything different than hunting the leeward side of the ridge like i typically do?
Any other deer wisdom is appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
