Marsh boots?

Unread postby trapper57 » Thu Oct 03, 2013 1:22 pm

What type of boots do you guys use for marsh hunting?
I assume it depends on the marsh itself or how much rain we had for the year.
If you use hip boots or wader, what do you do with them at the stand?

Im cheap but i got the cheap rubber boots from fleet farm for like 25$ but then i wear really good wool socks with them, seems to work well.

I put less emphasis on the boot and more emphasis on good socks and having toe wiggle room

I have Lacrosse alpha lites. Very comfortable to wear on long hikes. Used then 2 seasons worth of hunting and scouting and they are still in excellent condition.

Muck boots.

I've worn hip boots a few times and packed in warm boots. I left the hip boots at the base of the tree figuring if they got downwind of me it was over anyway.

Some guys strip down when they encounter something too deep for knee high boots. I did it last spring during an early turkey hunt. Worked good. Freezing cold at first, but it went away once I started walking again. Better than soaking wet clothes.

I usually wear hip boots but haven't needed them the last few years due to lack of water. I wear them on stand and roll them down if it is warmer. The neoprene uppers are good for that and much quieter.

Lately my Muck boots have been fine until the water level rise again. Problem is they are not durable enough for me and I keep puncturing them with sharp sticks in the brush. Mine are all patched up and need to be replaced soon.

Nothing else even comes close to muck boots.
