Re: Field Scoring Whitetail Deer game
I'm hooked on this! With practice it's amazing how close you can get at a quick glance.
Seems like I have the hardest time with quick scoring on the largest bucks over 160" and tend to guess way too low. Not a bad problem to have I suppose if you don't want ground shrinkage!

Re: Field Scoring Whitetail Deer game
One of the deer that I hunted for three years is on there. We named him "Kicker". We don't know what happen to him he just disappeared. That scrape he was hitting was about 200 yards from the camp an 75 yards from the road. We were getting pictures of him an he was covering sometimes a mile an half at night chasing does .
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

This is pretty cool, but I'm not so sure about some of their scores. I'm not saying all my guesses are right although I do pretty good. Those damn small bodied, large antlered Texas deer really throw me off.

I wonder how they determine the scores? Are they from deer actually killed and officially scored or just some guy estimating by looking at the photo?

I scored all 344 bucks and ended up placing 1115 place out of 13669 entries! (top 8%)
Guess I have more work to do!

I know that the one I have on there. As far as I know he never was taken by anyone.

I placed 756th on all time rankings.
Some those deer I think were the same deer with different scores.

I know some of those deer were repeats with different scores.

Tried the trial part of the game and got 2 exactly right and the rest within 10 points. Just guessed from instinct from hearing others guess at the deer they see in midwestern videos. The texas deer were tricky because their tines were thinner.

Re: Field Scoring Whitetail Deer game
I think it is meant to trick you Dewey. It jumps back and forth between large northern deer and Southern deer.... makes it a little harder to gauge accurately. My opinion is that most of us, myself included, are not overly great at judging deer on the hoof? I feel pretty confident I can guess then in class 140, 150, 160, etc., but a few of those picts threw me completely.
