Sounds like murphy's law was in full effect Bummer how it all worked out, but glad you didn't get misplaced for too awfully long...I've been there while coon hunting and it's a frustrating feeling for sure

It could be coincidence... But it seems odd. There was another guy who found the island and was boating to it for a couple years, but he really camped out there, had a trail cam and an obvious set up. This time it was the same tree I have learned over the years to be in, not where the sign is...
As far as it being a "bad weekend" any time out there is better than sitting at home watching tv... Even when your lost, or should I say "misplaced"... If you never venture out, you will never have any good storys for your grandchildren.
Man sorry to hear that Dan. I always wondered if somoeone would do that after you show them your spots for teaching purposes.
That sucks, but that also shows your integrity and confidence as a hunter. Most people would not share that info. Sucks either way, I hope it was'nt someone from a workshop( I would hope people have more integrity than that)
I am with you on the "Having stories for the Grand children" . Can't wait to tell my Grandson what happened to me this weekend up at my cabin That is as good as the hunt IMO

Great story as usual Dan. Sucks someone was in your exact tree though!! If it was someone from a workshop that is pretty low man!! I hope it wasn't. Makes me wonder though with the climbing stick marks???

Re: To he11 and back... Last nights hunt.
Just be glad its not people you consider very close friends burning your bridges. 11/12 was a horrible year for me in that regard. One burned my best early season stand on completely wrong winds. Another who has a ton of private shot the big gobbler out of the flock which I showed him the spring prior.
Needless to say, I havent contacted either to hunt this year.
That doe looked gross, wouldve left that one too. Maybe you shouldve drug it under the tree to make a point. Or let a little note..."Thanks for being a bunghole"

Bummer if it wasnt just a coincidence- which looks to be the case. Bummer about the doe and dropping the bow as well. Looking forward to the next adventure.

Everyone that attended the workshops were great folks... I can't think of one person in the entire group that I would not be able to trust. Not quite sure how anyone could find that tree though... Maybe its one of the people who purchased the video. If they found it on there own, hats off to them, they must be great hunters.

Sounds like quite the adventure. I too hope it wasn't someone from the Workshops, that would be pretty low.

Bummer about the doe. As far as your spot goes I'm surprised that doesn't happen to you a lot because of the video.

Not surprised it happened.........sucks big time, but not surprised. When a guy (Dan) tries doing something nice there is always a few folks that believe they have something coming and have no ethics.
Things like this really has shortened my fishing partner list..... a lot. Only (1) guy I fish with on a consistant basis and so far I don't go to his lakes or he is allowed on mine unless the other has permission. Even with "permission" either of us is not allowed to bring others unless in special circumstances.

Re: To he11 and back... Last nights hunt.
a good hunt gone bad....... so is your bow busted up or did it fare ok in the fall. this is why i remain a lone wolf, im even paranoid asking for help dragging my deer out. that job gets delegated to my cousin that doesnt hunt .hes never to thrilled but helps every time on the drags. i bought all the videoing stuff a few years back but realized i wasnt comfortable bringing anyone in to my setups so decided not to pursue it, if i did it would be on my own........

A man don't own his wife either but someone else trying to infringe on her is just plain wrong very disrespectful.

?????? Sorry, comparing public land to a wife is like comparing pizza to oranges. This certain tree from my understanding is on public land, that spot is open to anyone. My wife is not, and Im not into that kinda thing. I stated clearly in another post after this that yes, it is kinda disrespectful for someone to take another man's spot knowing that spot in particular was picked by another person, and for that person to take advantage of another man's hard work is clearly wrong and unethical. That is my opinion...

Marsh bucks... It was filmed in that marsh and has been a big seller in the towns surrounding it.
