I needed a NW wind to hunt this particular stand that is about 80 yds from a buck bedding area. I enter the stand through a ravine in the middle of a alfalfa field and follow it up to the leeward side of the ridge. I can usually use the corn to get in undeteced but it was planted in alfalfa this year. So I had to be creative. I knew of 3 particular bucks at this farm I hunt that I would take. I was only settled 5 min and I had a doe come through which was about 4:55. I then waited about another hour and I heard what I thought were antlers hitting together. Then leaves rustling and antlers smashing and I knew I had something going. I put up the binocs only to see the 2 bucks faces not really their horns. I knew the bigger of the 2 was a shooter couldn't really tell the other. It went quiet for about 10 min and I knew they would be coming as there is only 1 way off the ridge to feed especially for that wind direction. As the buck came off the ridge I knew it was the buck we call "Curly" as he has a curly sticker point off his base. He walked in to 15 yds I stopped him. I then settled the pin on his chest and touched it off. Immediately after the hit he made a deep beller all the way down the hill like a death moan when you shoot a bear. He only went 75 yds, I hit him right in the heart. I went in to the house and got the kids and went out to recover him. What a great night I hope the kids enjoyed going out after him as much as I did taking them! Even better news is I'm in CWD land and can still target the other bucks!

Dandy buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
