When bucks go "over the hill"

Unread postby dreaming bucks » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:27 am

I forget which beast member brought this story up awhile back, but it's a great article for those who have not read it yet. With all the talk here lately about how big bucks act differently, I thought this was a good read again.... makes a lot of sense in my opinion.... enjoy !

Interesting research. Explains why so many old bucks in big woods die of old age.

Interesting read.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I read that article this fall, some great info in there. I thing that makes me laugh is when it talks about letting the younger bucks go past  that a 6.5 or older may come by in the rear of the pack, that only happens in pens ;) not in real life hunting. Not saying that people pass on smaller/younger deer hoping for big one, but it says letting 4 or 5 good bucks go past  that a really old just can't keep up and will be trailing. Not even Andrea does that
