Congrats, that’s had to be one heck of a hunt. Must have been crazy watching that other buck go after the one you hit.

That was an amazing story and proof I guess of always keeping your head in the game despite failures. You just need that one, 15-second window to open up and BAM, success.
Thanks Dave! Yea, I always try and keep in mind that things can literally change at any moment. Antelope spot and stalk could definitely be viewed as frustrating, but I can't think of a whole lot of other things I'd rather be doing than hunting, out in nature, enjoying all there is to enjoy out here (and anywhere in nature, for that matter).

Thanks John, appreciate it!

Thanks JM! I feel REALLY lucky to have had two amazing hunts already this year. I'm optimistic I will have some more, but if I don't, 2021 is already a year of great memories.

Thanks buddy! Won't be long and you'll be darting some critters as well.

Thanks man! I still don't hardly believe it. I'm proof if you bumble around on the prairie long enough with a bow in hand, something is bound to happen sooner or later.
Dewey wrote:Great job. Congrats.
My kind of hunt. I like when the crazy stuff happens.
For sure! It was kind of like your hunt a few years back where you had 6 or 7 bucks run through on the same day. Antelope were rutting and running like crazy. Pretty awesome experience. Seems like an appropriate time to quote Mr. Mustaine, "Killing is my business, and business is good"
RidgeGhost wrote:It doesnt always go the way you planned it, but you only get to see this crazy stuff if you're out there chasing them! Sounds like you're having fun out there
Agree 100%! A guy has to be out there to have a chance, and the more he's out there, the more chances he's likely to have. I know I sure needed a whole bunch of them on antelope
backstraps wrote:Huge Congrats Seaz!!! Man its awesome you are out there staying at it and getting it done. I know that was a huge accomplishment for you and Im stoked for you! Thats a nice one too!
Thanks Tony! Yea, HUGE accomplishment for me. I am really motivated by challenging myself with difficult goals. This one was probably #2 after getting a bull elk (still haven't managed to accomplish that one yet...but I'm sure trying). The antelope itself is a pretty average specimen as far as antelope go. My ability to differentiate them has definitely improved since moving here. The first year, all I could tell was "really small" and "everything else". Last year I think I graduated to "really small", "average", and the occasional "Oh yea, havent hardly ever seen one that big." I had two really close stalks on "Haven't hardly ever seen one that big" goats this year, but it wasn't meant to be. I am still super happy with the outcome, and I can always try for a bigger one next year (assuming I draw the archery tag again).

Thanks Ack! Looking forward to reading a story or two from you this fall!
KRONIIK wrote:Yeah, that is a nice buck.
Congratulations!
And right on the heels of that dandy whitetail you got last week!
What a season already, huh?
We expect an elk down tomorrow; Wednesday at the latest...
Thanks man! If the schedule holds, I shot the whitetail on Sep 5 (Sunday) and the antelope on Sep 12 (Sunday), so I should have a bull down this Sunday, the 19th A guy can dream, right?
BRoth82 wrote:Great story, I'd take that luck anyday of the week and twice in sunday...
I'm definitely not complaining. It's funny, if you asked me two weeks into the season how I would tag one (if I tagged one at all), this series of events would have been way, way, way down the list of likely scenarios. Definitely some good luck on my side.
PK_ wrote:What a hunt dude. Great story. Congrats.
Thanks man! As a mostly life long Michigan resident with an October 1st archery deer opener, it was always a dream of mine to have something in the killzone before PK I mean, I think you had like a 4 or 5 year run there where it seemed like you were ALWAYS the first post in the kill zone . I'm sure it won't be all that long before you make an appearance again

Yea, it was wild! After I shot and they ran down in the draw at my 10:30-11 o'clock position, I could just see tops of their backs, dust flying, and the bigger buck (not the one I shot) just trying to go to town on the one I shot. They were getting after it!

Thanks man! Yea, I was thinking about telling the story of both these early season hunts on the podcast. I actually have another episode with a crowd favorite guest that should be out in the next day or two. It would have been out already, but all this meat processing is really cramping my podcast style. First world problems over here Recording two more this week, so it will be hard to fit my own stories in there, especially with elk hunting next week, but I'm trying to make enough hours in the day to do everything I want.

Thanks! Yea, Montana really is heaven on earth for the all around outdoorsman. There are better states for just deer, or just elk, etc. But for variety and opportunity, man...it's hard to imagine something much better.

Thanks! and congrats again to you on your antelope! I'll have to consult my placemat at the local Chinese restaurant, but it sure looks like 2021 is the year of the Goat!
