Re: Whistlin’ Dixie
Well done sir! I have a ton of respect for guys that get it done consistently in FL. I think I might just spend more time fishing of I was forced down there. Snakes and I don't get along.

Re: Whistlin’ Dixie
Thanks fellas
Oh yea, our season starts next weekend for Osceolas
Haha, yea I guess I didn’t say but yea this was 100% the buck he had on cam. But what’s funny is I got a text last night around midnight and they killed one that looks incredibly similar, the frame actually looks bigger it just isn’t as symmetrical. So he wasn’t the only ‘big 8’ in there lol.
Overall, yes it is an extremely exceptional deer. I don’t know if I would call it a mega giant because some extremely large deer get killed in FL every year. I have seen 2or 3 other bucks on public land bigger than this one in my life. I have seen a few on private randomly driving or whatever. But for most hunters, especially public land guys, this is pretty much the buck of a lifetime.

I am happy that you and your buddy could attack that area with combined intel. Helping each other. But...
Was this the big 8? I mean, it has to be but you didn't say that it was.

Didn’t see this question at first.
It’s possible but highly unlikely, the way he was acting I doubt he ever got a whiff of my scent. Plus the way the wind was angling he wouldn’t have smelled me until after I got off the trail. I think the wind speed was coming across the canopy so fast that it was creating a ‘vacuum’ so to speak and sucking air up out of the clearing I was in and over the deer. I noticed my milkweed angling upward even tho the sun never came out and couldn’t have been strong thermals all day. Even after sunset my milkweed was still being pulled up.
No Shortcuts. No Excuses. No Regrets.
