9.24.13 Beast Buck
Not sure if the link below will post a pic or not but have been tryn for a bit to post a pic of my buck from 2 days ago. Passed this buck last 2 years hoping he would grow into something special. Found where he was bedding the last 2 seasons and put a plan in place to hunt him early season. He started showing a few times in velvet and then once hard horned he was a regular. Needed a East wind to access his core area and we just happened to get a full weeks worth. I had some prehung sets in his area but needed to tweak the set so hung a LW to where the cams where telling me he was coming from he was showing at last light. So I knew my chances were slim but still had a chance. My second sit for him he showed himself and made a scrape 65 yds from me 3 different times over an hour period. He would walk from his bed to the edge of the grass opening and then return to thick cover. As last light was approaching he emerged a final time and presented me with a 33 yd shot. He had my nerves shot and was nervous about holding it together. The arrow flew true and made a perfect shot. the beast ran 50 yds and piled up. The quest was over! He ended up being a bit bigger than expected. Knowing where his exact beds were and what winds he was using to access food along with current trail cam pics are what brought this hunt together. I am very greatful for one of my better bow kills...

Awesome buck. I hope to kill one like that this year on public. Doubt it will happen, but I'll smile trying.

Not sure if these pics are showing as links or pics. First time ever posting pics on the beast.
Beams were over 27"s. Lots of hidden antler. He was only 4.5 yrs old and had some great genetics. I called him Shorty...

That is a dandy buck. Good job.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
