2018 Bucks
Here are my two bucks from this season. I skin the heads and my brother in law has the witch's pot so he cooks them. I think they turned out nice. I really thought hard about mounting the chocolate racked buck, but I'm too poor. My wife has an awesome camera so I do have some really nice pictures of him.

Look great! What type of wood (tree) is that they are mounted to? Looking to do something with my first Euro mount when I get it back and yours look like something I may consider.

I've been using some sections out of a cedar trunk. I don't do anything to them other than spray some semi transparent sealer on them. I like the natural look of them and all the sealer does is show the detail in the outside of the wood better.
If you cut sections yourself, be sure that you let them dry out good before doing anything or you could run into mold problems.

Re: 2018 Bucks
You guys done a great job with those!! Good stuff
You can always have them mounted later on. I have had to do that with a few myself. Most taxidermist can get appropriate capes for cheap. Or if you have buddys take a buck and doesnt plan to have it mounted, you can always get their capes (what I have done before)
At anyrate your euros look great! Love the cedar planks

That's what I thought it was.... going to something similar and will have it kiln dried for sure. Top picks are this or old barn wood!

I've got some ideas on using barn wood that I may try next year (if I kill anything). The plant manager where I work makes plaques that are super clean and look like arrow heads. I don't dislike that style, but I just enjoy the raw/rough look of the cedar trunk and weathered wood better.

Same for me.... I do a lot of woodworking in my shop and have also thought of doing a burnt edge state of WI but the log or old barn wood look so darn nice.
