The Hunting Beast

This was my first bow. I believe it's a Browning Wasp. It's #50 & 56". It's been painted camo. I used it my first couple of years bowhunting and it's been collecting dust ever since. I'm not too sure about the value? It has a few small screw holes in it, other than that it seems in good shape. I also have a string. Would anyone be interested in a bow like this? I'd like to find it a good home. I may strip the paint off to better see the bow.

Spray painted and unfilled holes will really lower the value. If the string is old (over 2 or 3 years) it'll need replaced more than likely which adds more cost to making it functional. In its current shape you're looking at $50- $75 in my humble opinion. At least thats all I'd spend on it in current condition.

I started stripping it last night. I think I'm going to try to restore it. The limbs look great after a coat of wax. If nothing else, to hang in my rec room.

Once you restore it you'll be able to get more out of it. Take your time, less is more when refinishing a bow.

I'm planning to do the same with an pretty old Hoyt I got from my brother way way back in the day. Been watching some youtube vids. You should do a project progress thread. I've never refurbed a bow so this is going to be interesting.

So is it a project or are you still thinking of selling.

I have been keeping an eye out for an old stick and string and just haven't connected yet.

I guess I would sell it. If not it will most likely become a project.

Well here it is with the camo removed. You can see the few holes some idiot (me when I was 13) put in trying to mount a sight. I'm gonna fill the holes to try to make it look a little nicer.

I'll pass for now, but that's a fair price. Shipping that guy will be about $18

I take 2 compound boxes amd cut them in half, then slide the halves together to make a solid box.

Bow looks pretty good, but the holes take away my interest. If you really wanted to take on a project till the holes and sand it down and then give it some new poly coats.

That sounds like a good post-season winter project. I'm just nervous about sanding and wrecking it.
