Finally! I found my first shed!

Unread postby Timmy » Sat May 11, 2013 6:05 pm

As I was scouting today I saw a clump of small trees in the marsh that I thought might hold a bed. As I got up to it I could see hair all over the ground and could tell it was a bed. As I looked a little closer I could see the base of a shed sticking out of the ground! Looks like its been there for a few years. Its not a big one but I'll take it!

Great find.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Bed finds are the best! Varmits are as bad on sheds as guys will tell you when their not finding them.

Here is another pic of this bed from a few weeks ago. This was after snow from a few days before. This bed looked to be getting pretty regular use, and one of the biggest sets of tracks Ive seen that were leaving this bed. Saw this set of tracks twice so he has bedded here twice in the last few days. The tracks followed the edge of the cattails headed toward a field a half mile away. Ill be shining that field next year, and I know where ill be setting up if I see a big buck!

Finding sheds in marshes is extremely tough. Wonder how many I walked right over through the years. :o

Most likely a bunch Dewey. Once I was shed hunt'n and standing in one spot for 5 minutes. After that I said nuthin here or I would have seen it . One step later I get my boot heel caught between a sheds brow tine and the base. lifting my foot I see the shed sticking on my boot. This was 20 yrs ago. It was buried in the marsh grass much like the o.p pic.
