PredatorTC wrote:Dan, I don't want you to give away where your hunting this buck, its none of my business but i know most of your bucks are swamp bucks. So when you say that you have been watching this bucks track, do you watch crop fields or do you find tracks in the swamp muck somehow or high spots in wet areas, or what. I hope this question is not to personal, but tracking is one thing that i need to get better at and anything i can learn is great.

Mostly crop field edges, but heavy bucks will also leave tracks in low areas that are not to wet, and a trained eye looking careful can find large buck tracks on hard ground in the woods too if you look close.

That is a heckuva shed! Do you have much history with this deer, 4 or 5 year old?

Not a lot of history... I think he is a 3 year old, going to be 4 this year, but thats a guess based on mass, tracks, and the fact that there was not a large buck in this area the year before.

Did you ever catch up with this buck, Dan?

He appears to still be alive based on sign and his unique track. But, he is not currently bedding where I can kill him. Most of my target bucks were killed this year so this one will be watched close. But I have some obstacles with him.
