I hit the ice with Hodag again

Unread postby magicman54494 » Wed Mar 02, 2011 5:26 am

We fished northerns this last weekend up north. We caught a bunch of northerns but most were small and all but 3 were returned to the lake. Our biggest was 25 1/2". We almost had a double on one line. I brought up a northern and there was another northern hanging on to it. The bigger one let go before we could pull it out. It was a bit chilly on the ice. I had a great time! Thanks for the invite Jason.

Sounds like a good time Magicman and Hodag. I think northern are one of the best tasting fish and rank right up there with walleye.

How are the travel conditions on the ice up there? I assume they are pretty good considering there was a big meltdown of the snow a few weeks ago. I was up in Boulder Junction snowmobiling a few weeks ago and it was really warming up by the time we came home. Didn't see too many trucks on the ice then because the snow was pretty deep on the lakes but I'm sure it has to be pretty good traveling now.

I'm thinking about heading up in the next few weeks to do some panfishing and scouting if I have some extra time.

Ha, I measured and remeasured. Each time I'd be eithor a bit over or under. I tried to strech it for you and even flattened the tail. I'd say it was a tie but since you were such a great host I'll give you the win. :D
For everyone reading this: We had a bet Hodag guessed 26 and I guessed 25 for a beer.

Near perfect. A few inches of snow made it easy to walk and not slippery.

I'm thinking about coming to Madison to redeem my drink coupon. ;)
It's about the same distance and a much bigger show.
