what if you used one of those mounts they use to mount guns/bows on 4-wheelers?? they strap them in place too. that should be easy enough to drill or slap on a sled

I'm going to be buying a new otter sled here shortly so I am going to have to figure something out also. I'll take pictures if I come up with something.

I solved this problem last year. What I did was got those hooks that are kind of Y shaped used for hanging garden tools etc. One in the front and one in the back and it cradles it. Works great and only cost about $3. I put a block of wood under the lip of the sled and screwed in into place, drilled a larger hole for the hanger, and screwed it down through the plastic and into the wood. Best part is you can put it anywhere , off to one side vs the other, centered etc.

great idea brad!! i like that its 3 dollars versus the gun mount that costs 30 bucks. but im wondering if the gun mounts are able to support it more..i think you could fashion something to strap it in with eh?

I am thinking of putting two eye bolts off to each side of it and putting a bungee or better yet raptor strap in it to hold it down even better. I would suggest the ones that are like 3/8" instead of the small dipped red ones, the one's I used were black and I got them at Menards.

I am thinking of putting a plywood deck on my sled and then cutting out spots for a minnow bucket, vexilar, etc with flip up covers and milk crates underneath. Also thought about putting in two small rubber made containers with flip up lids to hold my jig boxes and pliers etc. I have switched from deer mode to ice mode so the wheels are turning!

once i switch modes it is real tough to switch back...basically, im going to have to almost force myself to get out and scout this winter because ill be in ice mode...but i think in late january early febuary when the bite is slow i will get out and do shed hunting and winter scouting.

I suffer from the same problem. My plan is on the days where it is too cold to fish, I want to devote my time to scouting. My other issue is at the end of ice fishing season is when the river walleye run is. My wife says I have "seasons" and am obsessed with whatever season it is:

Winter/ icefishing
late winter/early spring walleye fishing
spring/ turkey season
Summer/ fishing and dirt track racing/archery
fall/ duh!

I have enough meat to fill the freezer for this year and dont want to kill any more until next year because I dont have a use for the meat. I have a buck tag left from my doe I shot so I intend to use it next year. I am in holiday mode/ icefishing/ helping my dad kill a deer yet. One his deer drops its all icefishing for a few months.

Thats late Spring! Early spring is March, at least in the walleye world! I do love me a good jellyheading though!
