Yes, I've watched that show a couple times. It's very cool watching him use all those primitive tools.

My brother and I commented on that as well. And you gotta figure the guy was a beast cutting/splitting wood and building everything by hand and then walking for miles in the mountains. I'm sure he was a healthy individual.

For the last 10 years I play this in my class. He had a very interesting life before going there.

Every quarter I have to teach how to use a crosscut handsaw. However I can't imagine ripping a log into planks with a handsaw.

For whatever reason the hinges he builds impressed me the most.

Not to many people could hand wined a camera go pickup a log walk past, then come back and do it again. Or go for a stroll across the lake at -35 with no gloves.

There's a lot of clips on YouTube not sure if it's the whole thing but the clips are pretty lengthy

Just watched some of this on YouTube. Pretty awesome, especially that he was doing this before the reality TV era. This guy is a true outdoorsman!

My favorite part was watching him make the door latch. Simply amazing.

He was far more prolific than I knew.

I too got my introduction to D.P. on PBS. Years later I sought out the full length dvd and learned that his journals also were alvailable, which I also purchased. Obviously more of his story in his writing than on film...a very impressive guy.
I can't stand this indecision married with a lack of vision...
