My father-in-law got me into hunting a little over 20 years ago. He taught me how to hunt squirrels, grouse, deer, etc. He has had some health issues the last 15 years and hasn't been able to hunt or even get out in the woods. But this year he is back. I invited him out for a squirrel hunt this afternoon and took him to one of my spots instead of one of the spots he used to take me. I limited out and he didn't see any. It was nice to show him how much I've grown as a hunter while he has been dealing with his problems. I dropped him off at home and as he walked away he said, "Thanks for the lessons..." I wanted to tell him he didnt stand a chance outhunting me with my stealth outdoors hoodie on, but we will save that secret for some other time

Re: Squirrel! The Stealth Outdoors Hoodie Strikes Again
Somewhere I have a few old photos like that with my much younger self and a couple (Wisconsin) daily bag limits of five grey and fox squirrels.
Those BIG foxes were a trophy to a kid starting to hunt!
I never saw a black squrrel while growing up, and when one of my neighbors shot one it made the local small town newspaper. He had it mounted.
I now live a few dozen miles away from there and we have quite a few of them around here.
I killed my first melanistic one with a bow last year.

I would love to get into a mess of big fox squirrels. They have always been a rarity around here. Not that you never see them, you just don't see them all the time like blacks and greys.

Use to be all we saw was the big red fox squillels so you passed on the lesser grays.
But soon the grays started take over the woods so you took out a bunch of grays only the the blacks took over then.
Today we shoot them all but the grys and the blacks are so uch smaller.
