Re: Hunter killed by elk
That sucks. I wish we had more detail like how close the man got before the elk jumped up or was it in a thick or open area. Everyone be safe and smart this year.

Wow. Just goes to show how quickly something like this can go real bad. Most of us approach situations like this pretty recklessly at times hoping to put an animal down as quickly as we can. Been involved in some real hairy situations a few times and looking back could have been bad.

Re: Hunter killed by elk
Definitely too bad. I’ve never hunted one, but they are huge animals. I would not want to be in striking distance of an angry one.

Sad but at least he didn't die young. The article stated Oregon has 34 million acres of public land

Re: Hunter killed by elk
He died doing what he loved and it made for a helluva headline.
Heart attacks, strokes and cancer are all possible, or you could live too long and have someone changing your diapers or colostomy bags while you sit in a wheel chair in a retirement home.
I’d prefer to go on my own terms just like this hunter did with an antler to the jugular! It’s way more heroic than most of us will get.
