A positive came out of The Rona

I put together a Fishcamp for the boy and some of his friends last week
It was everything about Florida and water.
Camped on a river (campground and camper) central to all the events

In no particular order

I’ve not fished saltwater but once the entire fall

So a buddy asks me if I had some waders. I said yeah.
He says,” you wanna go wade fishing for trout AND grouper?”

I said “uhh, sure”

Who knew
For about an hour the fishing was hot.

Crazy fun on light tackle. Except not so fun when you can stop one of the big boys

Haven’t been on the sea in ages. Sports, dance and a paper project have taken any free time.

The boy and I did go out for a day/night trip and caught some oysters.

We would refer to that as a bucket of stiffies! My boat thinks I hate it. Got a late feb trip scheduled to hit the bay.

Stiffies! Kinda like that. Never heard it.

We call em “pick-ups”

I gave a fishing buddy my “secret” duck spot the other day.
He hit it last Saturday. 35 trout in < 2 hours!!!

He said it was the wildest thing he’s ever done wadefishing
He invited me to my own spot tomorrow.

Lol

I have baseball.

Ok so I went today and lines in 7am.
Big outgoing tide, low at 08:55a
Looked like a full moon or darn close

Finished fishing at 08:00

40 trout.
I caught 40 trout.
All artificial.
I’ve never had action like that.

I have it on video. Gonna try to somehow condense it.

Almost every cast was a fish, if not 3-4 swipes at my bait.

I bet I had Maybe 10 casts without a bite.

Just unreal.

This was the bait (went through one pack though)
I’m sure I could have caught them on a stick of gum though.

Finished the video
It’s horrible
Messed up early on (fish 8 and 9) Later, not too bad
New editing software.

I’ve shot so many videos of the Boy and I and the editing part was always a pita.
This new one wasn’t too bad to use.
I’m looking forward to doing more actually

I love redbone rods. Dicks had them but quit carrying them. I heard they are discontinued.

I’ve used them since the days of Sports Authority!
Loved them too.
But alas, they have gone the way of the dodo

I like flat black blanks.
I’ll have to find a reasonable brand to move to.
