Carols yotes! Almost!!!

Unread postby dan » Sat Aug 11, 2012 1:19 pm

Carol heard some coyotes in the back again and wanted me to go after them... I took the electronic call, the 30-06, and my treestand and headed down where she heard them about 40 minutes before dark. I set the call on coyote howling while a rabbit squealed... I was hoping they would sneak in from down wind, but after 10 minutes or so of being really close to where they howl every day, nothing was happening, I slowly scanned the woods to see behind me and suddenly heard crashing in front of me, I spun around and a whole pack of yotes was rushing towards the call ( which was positioned 20 yards behind me in line with the charging yotes ) I threw the gun up and they started to scatter, I unloaded the clip and I think I hit two, for sure one cause I rolled him, but he got back up and ran off... No blood anywhere, The one I rolled was huge, I will try and find him in the morning... Carol was sitting on her chair in the yard applauding.

what Dan says was "They are huge. The size of wolves, and fat!"

I bet real fat they are eating everything a round here and sitting just inside the woods waiting for activity in the yard. I hear them all the time during the day.

Today I heard them at 12:01pm

Yesterday it was 2:10 pm

AWESOME! I love chasing yotes.

I took one of my daughters old ipods, downloaded a crapload of predator sound tracks. Used a small amp, all inside a little camo bag. I take an old arrow with fishing line tied to the nock, with a single turkey strut feather blowing in the wind.... those crazy dogs cant resist it!

Hope you find them, would like to see the pics. Sounds like you might want to try trapping them, or taking a shotgun next time. 8-)

Kill'm all. Mid summer yote shoot, way cool.

It was sort of funny Brad because I was sitting in the driveway looking down towards the woods. The neighbors (with cameras on every corner of their house and garage) were outside. Dan turned on the call and I heard the neighbor lady say "Oh god they are back, I'm going inside".....and as I looked over she was making a fast shuffle towards her house. He decided to close up his garage and also went inside.

I wonder if she pee'd her pants with the gun shot? BOOM BOOM (pause) BOOM BOOM BOOM

We are not trapping them cause of Carols coon friends, and to be honest, I am kind of attached to the coons too... The yotes are actually targeting carols coons and even have been stalking the ones we have in cages in the yard... I would of never thought they would eat the coons because coons can be pretty intimidating, but they are.... I do wish I would of taken the shotgun and buckshot though. The yotes were on top of me when they rushed in, all shots were very short distance in very thick cover, I took the treestand but ended up on the ground. I actually think I would of done better with the Glock than the 30-06...
