How big does it have to be?

Unread postby sticknstringarchery » Thu Jul 28, 2011 6:54 am

Dans question about P&Y/B&C stuck a question I have had for a while now just never asked. Especially after posting a pic of my first trail cam buck. A couple people I believe including Dan said he could be a P&Y. What does a buck have to score to be considered a P&Y or B&C?

For P&Y 125 net for typical whitetails.
B&C is for guns so who cares.

P&Y is 125" typical and I don't know non typical 140"-145" and B&C is 170" typical and 190" non typical I believe for gun hunting. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
When he was saying pope I think he was refering to 125" .If someone says Booner they are talking about 170" and above whitetail whether taken with a bow or a gun they are just talking about the size.

Thanks guys, Its odd around here to hear anyone talking about P&Y or B&C. I know our bucks are smaller here in NC but, I am beginning to think that it may be because most hunters have the mantallity of "If its brown its down". Not caring about size and or letting them walk if they are not big enough. I really do not think the whole QDM has started catching on here. I feel it is a nessecity for land owners/leasees that hunt.

You can get in the B&C awards book (whatever that means) with a 160 (185 NT), but the all-time book is 170 and 195 NT..

They dont necessarily have to be from gun hunting either..they can be archery. they can even be roadkill or natural causes..the world record non-typical was picked up rather than killed by a hunter..
