Jesse's Jake

Unread postby Black Squirrel » Thu May 26, 2011 10:58 am

I finally got around to posting my son's turkey hunt. Friday night Jess and I spotted some turkeys out in the field behind our house. It was about 7:45 and there was a group of hens and jakes heading to roost in the nearby woods. We decided to try an ambush run and gun style. We quickly got his gun and gear and headed out to cut them off. After a short run we got to a spot we hoped they come by and he set up. I had a tag also, so I moved on about 50 yards. Not more than 10 min after sitting I hear some putts, thinking Jesse got busted. After some short searching, I hear a gun shot, he dusted a double bearded jake!

Here is a picture of the beard, It's hard to see but trust me there are two of them! Image

It is his second, he got one a year and a half ago, a small young of the year bird during the Wisconsin fall season. This one weighed 16 pounds. He was pretty excited after getting it, like other said you can really see it in his smile. 8-)
