Here's the story on him. Actually 2009 I thought was going to be a bust because my wife was having medical issues all year and my time was limited that year.

This was my 2009 buck. I had trail cam pics of him in the fields and scrapes and figured out where he was bedding by his way of exiting and entering them. The bucks on this property don't show up until the 20th of October roughly so scouting has to be quick and not intrusive on the property so they aren't spooked.

I set some cameras up after first locating him and I got a few more pics of him. I figured out where I thought he was coming from and I went in the weekend before and set a stand while it was pouring the rain so it would wash my scent away. Friday the 6th I got in stand at 2pm about 3:45 I saw my first does coming across the logging road and 10 minutes later here come 3 more does by my stand. At 5:05 I heard something walking and stopping out of sight in the thicket about 80 yrds away and the next thing I knew the squirrel that was on that side of the logging rd ran on my side climbed the tree and started barking like crazy. So I stood up and grabbed my bow and got ready. Most of all my bigger bucks have all been given away by squirrels barking at them and I knew a buck was coming(either him or a coyote). Well he came straight at me and stopped 30 yards and I'm at full draw waiting for him to turn. He stood there looking up and down the logging road and put his head behind a big tree still angled towards me so I let down. He then after a minute of standing there turned to his left and walked towards me. I drew back again at 23 yrds and mouth bleated at 20 and he didn't stop. I then mouth bleated at 17yrds and he didn't stop so I bleated louder and he stopped broadside 14 yrds and released my arrow. My arrow was sticking in the ground and being that close I didn't know where I had hit him,I just knew where I aimed and as he trotted off I could hear him choking and coughing so I knew I had lungs. He went about 80 yrds and piled up. I waited for 35 minutes and got down to check my arrow and start tracking. Here is what I found Continued next post

I found him with his head propped up from his droptine stuck on that little tree.

He's a 14 pointer with an 18-1/2" spread. He actually has a sticker off his g2 to make him 15 pts but it's only 5/8" long. He grossed scored 172" with the sticker. My biggest so far. I called my wife and and loaded the kids up and drove 45 minutes to where I was hunting. I got back out of the woods and got my 6 year old son to go in and help me get it out.

One thing I never got to see on him if you notice in the last pic there was a droptine broke off of the bottom of his right mainbeam. Would of liked to seen him or had a pic of him with that still there to see what he would of looked like.

Awesome buck... I like it when a guy earns a buck through good scouting rather than gets lucky. Looks like you earned him! 8-)
