Working or Hunting

Unread postby Upatreeinwv » Thu May 06, 2021 9:01 pm

What a struggle. Is it not better to hunt, fish, or trap than work?

Don't want to sleep over on hunting days.

I live to release an arrow and watch woods grow into chaos and then grow quite as a mouse in just seconds.

If I was getting up to go hunting. Would not feel like I feel right now. I would also be running late. Dan would probably be in stand by now since he posted at 4:23.

I have thought about quitting a part time job just because I'm extremely busy in the spring and fall which are the best times to be a hunter or fisherman, heck just an outdoorsman!!! Aslong as you can pay the bills and have some play money then who cares right??? Lol

I was thinking on the drive in this morning how much I never regret a single day I take off or call in “sick”. Sometimes the world can wait. Only so many days to do what makes you feel alive.

Working or hunting? :?

What kind of question is that? :snooty:

Counting down the days till I can give working for a living the big middle finger and finally start living life like I want for a change.

I have actually considered doing the homestead thing so that I can hunt as a lifestyle and to survive. It means that much to me. Couldn’t imagine a day without public lands. Not sure Id be able to hold it together.

When I'm working, all I can dream about is my next big adventure. I am glad there are others doing the same.

All depends on what you want out of life. If you want the family house car vacations and to retire comfortably, work needs to come first, hunt on yer free time.

If you want to work til you die at a middlin job, then put in just enough effort and work just enough to get by. Enjoy life and let the chips fall.

There is a balance. Diff for everyone.

I would quit my FULL TIME job in a heartbeat. If it paid enough I considered school job to have extended time off. Or real estate agent to work on your terms.
Explore and travel while healthy if you can.
Uncle buck mentioned public lands, such a treasure. Ditched the city and a factory job a couple years ago. See boundary signs from yard to public, too much around to hunt half!!

All I know is when I’m on my death bed I will not be reflecting on memories of work or wishing I can punch a time clock one last time.

Fact of life is there is no guarantees. I might kick the bucket tomorrow that’s why I’m gonna have fun today!

If it were just me, I would potentially have a job where I could hunt as much as possible and work only when necessary. But I’ve got kids and a wife, bills to pay, retirement to fund, college to save for, and oh yeah a mortgage or two. I hate to say it, but the way these democrats are spending money, there ain’t gunna be any left to fund Medicare or Social Security when we get up there, so I’m paying myself first so I can have enough to pay to have myself taken care of so my kids won’t have to change my diapers. But I’m also not avoiding taking vacation days that I know I need to have a balanced life.
