Running ridges

Unread postby buttonbuck » Fri Apr 02, 2021 12:55 pm

8 miles running ridges. A lot of sign and no hogs. Ridge 1 had hogs on it last year this time, sign was dry and old but there was scat. Ridge 2 had fresh sign but lead to a huge pine thicket. I couldn’t go in there to bump n dump cause its to thick.

I hunt hogs pretty similar. The big player is the acorn crop. Usually Jan/feb/early March. Those hogs here are rooting down in the valleys uncovering the rotten acorns. Most places around here didn’t produce much of a crop this year and I saw more hogs on the agricultural fields or first green up areas. Just a bit of a guess, I didn’t really have the time this year. Between new scouting, making old spots better, locating pigs, and this crazy weather. Fishing season really snuck up on me.
