This is my first year trying to hunt beast style. I haven't had much luck finding any sign along the swamp transitions. I put up my stand as an observation stand. He walked right up to 25 yds last night. 11pt 194lbs shot in north central MN.

NE Pennsylvania public land 10 (if you use the "hang a ring on it" rule)

Bunch of firsts Tuesday night. This is the first year I've been following the beast method, my first bow kill, and my first public land kill. He isn't a monster but I'm damn proud.

Full writeup in the killzone.

North Carolina Public Land, set up in an overlooked bedding area near the road. Lord blessed me with my biggest buck to date and first beast buck. Thanks to Dan and everyone on here that has taught me how to get after them.

September 20th public land SE WI. Family moved down to SE WI this past July and have been running around trying to learn some new public pieces ever since. Made my way out to a piece I had cyber scouted and found some good sign. Set up and within an hour this guy leisurely got out of his bed and slowly browsed his way to 20 yards. Was able to get the family out there to make some memories afield.

October 11, Opening day of Rifle. Blind set up in a over grown cow pasture 220 yards from target. Shot him on the move, dropped my rifle and placed my buddy where I was. He shot a fat doe 5 min later, his first hunt and his first kill. I bow hunted this buck all last season, killed all his buddies but he was to good.

Rookie at beast hunting
1. Watched summer scouting episode by Dan 5 times and located some target animals in overlooked spots.
2. Watched videos on how to set up close to the bedding without noise (lone wolf setup video by Dan and stealth strips and mobile)
3. Google earth historical views used to find trails as dan showed in video and on recent podcast
4. Scouted with stand on back until I found sign near that trail. (Mentioned in many of dans podcasts)
5. Milkweed(which I picked on the way in) used to make sure scent missed bedding (watched the video on milkweed)
6. 5 inch tree used and only high enough to shoot over per a dan video so I wouldn’t get skylit. (From a dan video a couple years ago)
7. He got up within 50 yards and started fighting other bucks.
8. Caught him by complete and utter surprise. ( mentioned all the time by Dan videos).
Thanks Dan and the Beast or I never would have done it all correctly.
