Its only a 3 day season and the remnants of the hurricane is blowing through tomorrow...BUT were gonna make the very best BEAST effort of killing one via Covid-muzzy!

I would be too but Laura had other plans.
We been having hard rain and wind all day.
Had a brief tornado this morning though it didn't hurt anything.

I'm going to hopefully hunt some tomorrow.

Oh I went today! I had a rain shower hit hard about 8-9 am but pulled out my tree umbrella and hunkered down for a bit. Last year I brought my deer stand and regretted it the whole day and got overheated.

Today I just brought a backpack and a small cooler with drinks and a couple sandwiches. I also had bug spray and my tree umbrella. I was stalking around at the boundary of the public when I jumped a doe. I went over to where she was and found running tracks of her and a fawn. I never saw the dawn though.

The high wind had the mosquitoes off their game.

I’m convinced the deer stay near the private fields till the fields are harvested and the acorns start dropping good mid October or so. The two shots I heard today came from private land.

I covered about a 3.5 mile loop. My stalk game isn’t the best but I really worked on it today. I also wasn’t impressed by the lack of fresh sign in this swamp I went through.

It was a great day to be afield, so much better than being at work. It was a great start for me and the 2020 season!

I had an awesome sit this evening

Wind was going to be changing a lot with the storms going north of us. So I made a plan and headed out with it.

10 mins after setting up, momma and a fawn comes in on my entrance trail..... tracking me

Came to 10yds and fed and moved on.

With closing light fading fast, both bucks I’ve been on came into sight! They were both out of range. But, I was close!!

Here is the thing...where I was hunting, I have had sole permission since I was 13yrs old

Tomorrow will be a sad day. My last day I can hunt there. Property has been sold and I was graciously permitted me to hunt this velvet weekend.

Tomorrow fingers will be crossed tight!!

Here is the one I am after on this land:

Yesterday afternoon my setup went much smoother. I found a hunters new ladder stand about a hundred yards from where I planned to setup. Blocking the trail to and from bedding.

He may have hunted it yesterday morning and messed the area up.
I never saw any deer yesterday.

Last day on this piece of land

Im going off last night’s visual. If the bucks come from the same bedding area as last night, I am 80 yards away. I am at the tree I seen both bucks come to feed around at last light.

My wind as I am sitting now is extremely just off wind. Forecast shows the 8:00 hour shifting a little too much....but im hoping the thermals will take over by then

Im ground pounding in a ghillie with excellent ground cover and backdrop. I have had success from the ground here before. So plan is set and in action. Certainly hope I can close this chapter with a fuzzy antlered 8pt with a little kicker

When that random trail cam placement gives you a boner.

Game. On.
