Heartbreak tonight! Was sitting with my 9 year old on a path we saw a group of bucks take Sunday night on public land. Sitting on the ground behind some great cover with just a small window to shoot through. Same big buck came up the same path. I drew a second too late, after he had already got into the shooting lane. He saw the movement and bolted. I couldn't believe how big he was. I've never shot a buck, but I've got to think this was a mature buck.

Got walked in on fifteen minutes before dark. I don't mind if you want to come in and check your camera, but do you really need to do it during closing time?

Rare double sit for me. It's nice to have everything already to go, I can see why people hunt presets.

Headed out in about 1.5hrs. Taking my oldest daughter, she thought it would be a fun night to hang with Dad. Should be a fun night, going to try a spot I have never been in, though it is close to a spot have been in. It's going to be a warm, but beautiful night. Hoping for a Doe, but you never know. The wind is wrong for my main buck spots, though there was some good rubs near this spot last year. I know they are there. I hope no one else comes in on us. I know there is another guy that hunts from the same parking lot, but it is hard to know which way they all go. I have a plan b and c that won't be to difficult to move on to if needed.
