I just let one walk that I may regret. Hoping it pays off for me. 4th buck of the morning. No does yet.

Lots of action this morning. Mix of mulies and whitetails in this spot. Been seeing deer all morning. Me and Gabe made a stalk on a 10 pt whitetail bedded with 3 does. They were hidden behind a burm. One doe stood and busted us and they took off. I watched through the scope as Gabe cracked off 4 shots. All clean misses. He was roughly a 110-115” buck.

We saw a big one too. 130-140ish ten. He’s holed up with a herd of does in a private sunflower field. Zach said he’s going to wait them out and hope they come back to public. That’s going to be a miserable sit in this wind!! But it’s the right call to get the job done.

Me and Gabe split up and I’m going to check out some new to me walk in. Then formulate a plan for the evening.

Griff and his Dad have seen some deer but no shots fired.

All in all I’d say so far so good! Miles walked: 4.6

Very slow for me, only saw 2 but happy to use my bonus doe tag on this girl at 7:20 this morning. Now I'm holding out for a nice buck, my dad saw 7 this morning including 4 bucks but no shots fired.

Happy to have my dad out here with me it's been 22 years since we hunted together, and he didn't complain about helping pack my doe out 2.1 miles.

Heading into a spot I scouted but needed a very specific wind to make it work. I have the wind.

Now time to see if anyone is home

Jumped a fork buck coming in. Rain should be here in and 3-4 hrs. Hopefully they will be moving soon.

I’ve had an action packed four days in Indiana. Kept pushing my vacation back because of the heat. Ended up hunting Wednesday-Friday with a bow, and saw tons of action, including a 175+ yesterday evening. I ended up killing this buck today with a gun. Weighed 220 field dressed. Came in pushing a doe.

Took a local kid on his first whitetail hunt this morning. His father owns 75 acres and gave me sole permission years ago. Place doesn’t set up well for what I do, mainly just open woods that deer don’t have a reason to use. But for taking a kid it worked great. A few weeks ago I drove 2 t-posts and attached some of that camo burlap stuff to hide behind. Then 2 days ago when I verified the kid was going i chummed the area up with golden nuggets. Yes I baited so shoot me. But I wanted a first time hunter to get some action on a property that doesn’t provide it. I wanted him to get a broadside shot on a relaxed animal and not have to rush.

Shortly after 10 am while enjoying a sack of sausage McMuffins I hear look, look! It’s a deer, it’s a deer! Couldn’t help but ask why is your hand on my knee? First time I’ve ever witnessed someone get doe fever but the kids knees were knocking. He made a great shot with his .243 and she dropped in her tracks. The kids facial expression was priceless! He proceeded to give me a hug. Again why do u have your dang hands all over me

While helping him quarter the animal I pointed out that meat along the backbone there is worthless let me go head and get rid of that for ya. Dang rookies lol....

Was heading to my intended evening spot at a pinch with a fence and checked a somewhat random cam I have on my way out.. last 2 days a handful of descent bucks have been pushing a doe all around the cam mostly at night with a few daylighters sooo I guess I gotta give it a hunt. It’s gonna be tough because I had to backup 30 yds to make the wind work so I’ll basically be shooting while they are standing in my ground scent.. not ideal but hopefully they aren’t thinking with the right head.
