Just seen a decent buck walking in on a new farm. I tried hiding behind a small tree lol. He trotted off. Maybe he will tell his big brother! :D

Nothing this morning except water in my boots.
Dried stuff out. In a new location

Took a break for lunch and to hang a camera. Time for one more sit before gun season. Moved right to the scrape he's been hitting semi regularly. Going for broke. Feelin Beasty

Place that looked good in spring is a dead zone now. Tons of doe trails and bedding but not now.

The only rub I've seen in a mile and a half...

I was on the ground tonight and had a lone doe come up onto the bank of the small pond I was sitting by. I got drawn and she was a few steps shy of giving me a broadside shot when she noticed me and stopped quartering toward me at 15 yards. I figured now or never so I held in front of her shoulder and let it go. The hit had a nice pop to it and she ran down into a draw and stopped, I'm pretty sure her head was down, then she took off up the hill and took a left. I watched her for maybe 100 yards from the shot, she was bounding with her tail flagging.

Strange part is that I can't find anything. Arrow, blood, hair, nothing. I was watching her through binos, I'm sure it wasn't sticking out of her. She was standing in front of a jungle of blackberry bushes and weeds, my lighted knock could be who knows where in there. I walked the trail she took into the draw, then headed up to cross where she ran after she turned hoping to find blood with no luck.

I'm a little confused and wondering if I hit where I wanted to. The hit sounded good though. I know I hit her so there has to be hair, it was getting dark and I must have missed it. Wish I had my arrow or blood on the ground. Gonna go home and grab something to eat and come back with a better light. Gun season opens tomorrow, not a good morning to grid search.

And the sunset was nice, boots stayed dry... I guess there are positives. Thanks Luke! :D
