First two really remote spots I went to already were occupied, so I went back across the creek and contemplated going home but instead I set up in a tree 20 yards from the bank where I'd seen some small rubs and scrapes on the way in. I gave myself until 5:22 and then I was gonna start packing it in, but heard sticks snapping behind me. I looked back and saw a doe about 40 yards out heading straight for me. Then the grunting started and I thought maybe what I thought was a doe was a small buck. It was pretty dark by now. The next thing I know the doe takes off and I hear more grunting. That's when this giant comes into view. He was a tank, I'm guessing at least 4.5 to 5.5 years old. At this point they would've been about 30 yards behind me. He snort wheezed as the doe took off and started grunting again and making a rub. I began grunting back at him and snort wheezed, but he continued rubbing. Then instead of coming straight at me he kinda circled around to the right and was sniffing the air and licking his nose. I could barely see at this point and heard him move off. I was shaking so bad it took me a few minutes to be able to stand up and climb down. I've never had such an intense encounter!

Sounds like a great hunt!

Going to try him again?

Congrats Kyle! Figured you’re many encounters would produce soon!
Congratulations wihunter95. Awesome buck!
Way to go Parker! Heck of a first buck!

I killed my second bow deer tonight. A young doe. Been passing them on WI public for weeks. Decided it was time to add meat to the freezer and get more kills under my belt to boost confidence. After missing and making foolish mistakes this year, shooting this deer at 18 yards and watching her run 18 more yards before toppling over dead was a huge confidence booster. Time to swing for the fences and get after the big boys!

Again congrats to all the killers! They are really hitting the ground now.

Yesterday morning I had some small bucks chasing til about 10. Then the temp really started to rise and I hung in there until noon. The temperature hit 73 in the afternoon. For the evening I scouted my way into a thermal hub for the last hour of daylight. There were a ton of rubs and scrapes. I knew it was risky but the wind was low and my thermals would pull down after sunset. I set up on an old logging road with a ton of sign but there was one more logging road just below me that had little to no sign. The last ten minutes I called in a buck. He came in grunting with every step but I could not see him as he was on the lower road. Right as he got right below me I could see tall tines. He took another step and got my scent and blew out

Wife wanted to sleep in today, so I’m with a friend trying to get his 1st bow kill. We came in here a week ago and found some bedding. Jumped a handful of does, a nice half rack, and a giant. We are set up right next to it hoping something shows up. Got in here and set up really quiet. He isn’t gonna be picky, so it could be a really fun hunt.

Seen one small 8 so far. Too bad he stayed out of range. Tried calling to him but he had no interest in it.

Sorry for the delay. No internet where I was. Not even sure how I made the original post.

Buck died fast only ran 60 yards or so. My first buck from the ground with a bow. Pretty awesome, I am thrilled. Juneau county public.

Got lucky with the shot, hit him back but hit an artery.

Close calls every hunt. We had a decent little buck at 41 yards this morning but it was too dark. 10 minutes later and I think we would have had a dead deer.

The wind is ridiculous (25+ mph) and really had movement shut down. We saw a couple does in the distance later. Dad didn’t see much either. Back at it tonight. Not expecting a lot of movement but we’ll be ready.

Just messed up bad on a slob in the swamp.
I grunted once, turned and maybe 1 minute later there he was at 20 . Grabbed my bow but it was too late.
I’m set up on the best sign I’ve seen.
