Congrats Drenlin!

I have proof that packing a deer out is easier than dragging. My best tip is shoot small ones. my legs were cramping really bad going up the last hill.

Awesome! Beast style! I haven’t been out for two weeks and all these stories are getting me excited for my trip starting Sunday.

I’d probably have to shoot a nub buck to pull off a pack out like that!

Scouted around the public found some fresh scrapes. At 5:30 a guy about a hundred yards away starts smashing antlers, scared the crap outta me.

Needless to say. No deer seen.

Also he turned in his head lamp and started packing up about 15 min before closing time.

That's awesome Nelson.

I went out to a spot where I knew they were as of Monday and Tuesday. Had the same wind but they weren't there tonight. I know there's a bruiser in the area and a nice 2.5 year old that I probably wouldn't pass on, but they must have shifted a bit. Bumped two does on the walk out.

The search continues tomorrow.

PS - Quest... I just don't get why people shut down early if they're in an area with decent sign.

Saw 3 different forkers tonight. Every group of does had a buck in tow so I didn’t dare take a doe. Back at it in the morning!

Hunted behind the house tonight as they harvested the corn Tuesday and the wind was right .
Saw a nice buck cruising out on the field edge about an hour before sunset. Had a couple doe pop out 30 yards from me and was ready to take the 2nd as she was huge. We live right by the RR tracks and she spooked pretty hard when the train blew his horn by the crossing. I needed just one more step :? Oh well, the train gave me the opportunity to get out quietly. Back at it in the morning.

No luck on the track. The snow last night and warm temps today ended up being a really bad combo. The dog could follow the known blood trail where blood was present, but all the interdigital scent got washed away. We couldn’t even find our boot prints from last night.

It was bad. The track wasn’t advanced at all. We checked some likely spots and known bedding, with no sign of him. I don’t blame the dog, he seemed to know what he was doing despite being young.

I’m going back with my Dad to check a few more spots tomorrow and also talk to the neighbor. Pretty sure that’s where he is. I highly doubt he’s going to be receptive to grid searching with gun hunting being so close. But you never know.

Me, my Dad, and the tracker all agreed that there were bubbles in the blood. I’m thinking high hit one lung and liver. Pretty sure he’s going to die.

If I need to stop back and watch for birds I will. Hopefully we get lucky tomorrow.

Good luck Lockdown, it’s worth another look. Heck we found one the year before last by birds circling overhead.

Man thought it was gonna happen tonight, was covered up in deer but the Doe/Buck I bumped never came out, but I think I might have heard them crashing around. All in all I saw 9 deer, mostly does with a couple of fawns and maybe a little buck or two in the distance. Usually that is a good week in the bigwoods . Had a few of them hanging around the stand at dark so I sat an extra half hour or so until they cleared out, tried to slip out quiet but ran into one by the truck that was blowing at me. I left my set out there, going right back in the AM, probably going to creep in during first light.

We ended up seeing 9 deer tonight. Had the buck we were after at 100 yards but he wouldn’t leave the does. I gave him some grunts, and he wanted to come our way, but then he looked back to the does. I knew he would keep following them when he kept looking back and forth between them and me. So anyways, we will be back at it in the morning. Got a nice 7 point that’s using another piece of the property that we will be after in the morning.

We had another good day today. Also crazy day of finding sheds and a dead head. The dead head had a cool brow tine that curves backwards and down

Also that is not snow in the second pic....just good ole Florida sand.
