This is what I heard too, pretty sure my shot was high and forward. They can live through that ok, I think I jumped mine 14 hours after the shot and he was moving well but probably sore. Shake it off and get after him again, still some time before the rifles start to bark.

Yes, the arrow flew 15 feet beyond and stuck into a mud bank. Looking at some deer anotomy pics, I believe you're right. I followed blood for 40 yards or so but didn't go past where I last saw him. I'm home now, gonna go back after a bit.

Right after I posted the pics I took several steps to leave when a deer blew. A nice buck had snuck up on me while I was typing and in the wet leaves I never heard him.

Good move on your part backing out. I agree he will be laying dead in his bed when you go back. Congrats!

Definitely a hot doe. They are running her hard and paying no attention to our logging operation. Time to get out of here and onto a property that I can hunt

Are you in Iowa JM? I am and action has been insane today. The 2 and 3yo bucks have been chasing hard and constantly bumping does. Filmed a knock down drag out fight. Probably first intense one I have ever seen

Tapered off about 2:00. Probably be a dead evening

Found him 50 yards from where I stopped. Smallest buck ever
I would have rather shot a doe and I could have this morning if I would have had my act together but my goal was to get some meat in the freezer asap. Also only my second deer from the ground with a bow so I'm happy about that.
