Mosquitos ran me off of my first spot. I’ve never seen them so thick! Deer and thermacell were completely ineffective.

Closer to home now, not sure why there are basically no mosquitos just an hour south. I’m not complaining!

In tight to bedding and only 150 yards from the road. The ambient droning of the road isn’t very relaxing, though it helped cover my entry noise.

Good luck!

When you get back to some isolated oaks and this is the only fresh sign you see... :?

Going to pull up stakes and hopefully have time to set up by ag

Oh, found a fresh rub, but it was too close to parking (and a gut pile) for me to care about.

Calling for the wind to switch mostly west close to dark which wouldn't be great for up top but hopefully the thermals would be pulling down by time. Or just go to the easier spot in the bottom and see what light winds/thermals will do for me down low.. decisions decisions

Got here and the air was so still I decided there is no way I could sneak in and setup within 70 or so yards of that bed so I Ended up setting up down low in a thermal hub sort of spot. 3 or 4 finger ridges terminate down into this bottom with a bunch of white oaks. Decent amount of deer sign but the ground cover is so thick I cant see a whole lot. The best bed should be about 100 to 150 yards away and a hundred feet or so above me. Good luck to all out tonight

In stand watching does and fawns filter into 2 big green fields.

I just had a doe and fawn pass underneath me. Really looking for some meat in the freezer.

What does everybody feel as ethical in regards to taking a doe with a fawn following? I really haven’t been able to take the shot over the years. Maybe I watched too much Bambi as a child.

Still a few weeks till the october 1st opener. Got out to pull some camera cards and spotted a nice rub. Hoping to dial it all in for opener.

Nothing for me tonight, getting all the slow hunts out of the way early this year. Super quiet night in the woods pretty enjoyable sit besides the skeets

Well I missed a mid-to-high 140s tonight. Had to have hit something cuz that nockturnal looked like a carnival ride on its way to the mark. Clean miss at least but I’m less than enthused lol
How bad do you want it?

The bedding area I thought was going to be good was soggy from all the rain. Definitely beds in there, but there was water in them.

Was going to post up in another spot after that didn’t pan out, but decided not to rush it because I don’t think it saw pressure from that side of the public yet. I’ll go back in when I have a little more time.

Fun to be out there swamping knee boots again though.
