Our DNR is most definitely in bed with the insurance companies. That’s why they blow CWD way out of proportion and try to eradicate the state’s herd.

On the plus side, of the 80 or so people I’ve personally talked to along with hundreds of others who’ve commented online, I haven’t seen a single person be in favor of the extended gun season.

Exactly.

I mean, I could have worded Question 10 as follows:

“Do you favor changing decades of nine-day gun deer season tradition beloved by so many to a 19-day season?”

Yup! I hope they get a 98% disapproval rating on that question so they see how idiotic that proposal really is.

How bad do you want it?

Just finished, man those were horribly worded.

My opinion - based on no evidence - is that crossbows are impacting the buck harvest, just not how most might think. I believe crossbows are getting a ton more people in the woods during the rut, and it's just making the deer wiser, faster, and by the time gun season rolls around, they've had a lot more hunter interactions than in years past when it was mostly just young to middle-aged folks hunting with vertical bows.

I hope all the voting makes the difference! My fear is they still go thru with their stupid plan regardless of the results.

Agreed. My dad doesn't hunt anymore, but I had him fill one out too.

Glad to see I am not the only one disgusted with those questions, couldn’t help but feel like our input doesn’t matter and they already have their minds set on the silly changes.

Not my fight but have simular things going here.

Doe tags were cheaper to buy than a buck tag so hundered were sold to the brown and down bunch.

I just said doe tags above but in reality it is anterless tags and yes a large number of button bucks are killed off by people with no eyes to see those bumps on a deers head. Never mind they are just a tad bigger than a dog.

All you have to do it look at other hunting sites to see how many will shoot a coupe of bucks after and only after 4 or 5 does are in the freezer.

The hunters need to police them selves better along with demanding the wild game laws are set by non appointed persons.

Good luck. I hope it works out for you guys. The little time I spent in southern Wisconsin public the deer numbers seemed low. I could see this being even more damaging

You're probably correct. It's also likely that many of those hunters that hunt and kill with a crossbow are also rifle hunters that may choose not to shoot a buck with the rifle if they've been successful with other methods. Each method is not separate from the others, each group is intertwined and made up of many of the same individuals. Hunters are more selective now than they were and aren't just out to shoot just any buck. Although Wisc does usually lead in the yearling buck harvest category nationally...

Agreed.

Vote no to extending gun season.

Vote yes to limiting crossbow season.

Those two things have an inequitable harvest impact.
