Opening day turkey hunting tactics

Unread postby kher » Tue Apr 07, 2020 4:07 am

Opening day for turkey in MN is 4/15/20, wondering what decoy tactics are you are using for turkey hunting during early season? no decoys at all, a lone hen, hen(s) with tom, hen(s) with jake?

Also any other general turkey tactics or ideas to get us pumped up for next week?

Decoying has only been partly productive for me, and perhaps more bad than good. I've had bird hangup lots of times within range of my decoy, but not within range of me. I still carry dekes with me when I hunt in my pack, but rarely use them. Sparse calling and run and gun are my preferred method.
