2020 Michigan Beast Member Public Land Challenge
I had a lot of fun participating in the 2019 michigan beast member PLC that Singing Bridge threw out challenging us to hunt new areas in our own backyards. I was thinking it would be fun to do something again with the Michigan beasts, so how about an early Archery Michigan Beast UP Deer Camp?
Im picturing a bunch of us convening at an eastern UP state forest campground the weekend of 10/10-10/11. If you wanna show up a day or seven early or stay a day or six after, that's great. The goal is to have a good time, put some faces with names, tell good hunting stories around the campfire and explore new territory- and if the stars align, bring home some UP venison.
Any interest?

Sounds like fun. I’ll keep it in mind. Long ways for me being in southern Michigan. I hope you get a crew together

Re: 2020 Michigan Beast Member Public Land Challenge
Alright let's do it!
2020 Michigan Beast Member Public Land Challenge
When:
Friday, 10/9/20 through Sunday 10/11/20
Where: Camp location to be kept on the hush except to those coming. Camp will be at a Michigan State Forest campground in the Seney, MI area. More state and national forest than we could all hunt in our combined lifetimes and within striking distance of some other great areas.
Who:
All Beasts are welcome, even if they're not from Michigan
How Much:
Free. Though the cost to camp at Michigan State Forest Campgrounds is $15/night. These campgrounds are first come first serve, and typically offer pit toilet and a hand pump well. You also need a MICHIGAN Recreation Passport to enter state forest campgrounds. I think they now run $11 annually for Michigan residents, $34 for nonresidents. There are single day options available, all the info is at this link. https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-3 ... --,00.html
Fend for yourself for food and drinks, but we should all bring a dish to pass for a potluck style dinner Saturday night. We will figure the details out later.
Why:
To have a good time, to meet fellow beasts, to hunt new territory, to challenge ourselves in the deer woods in a place where we have never hunted before.
Rules:
Have as much fun as possible, hunt how how you like to hunt and follow the Michigan Hunting Regulations.

Awesome! I'm already counting down the days. This will be my first away from home trip of the season, trying to organize a week on North Manitou later in the month, then rutcation in Ohio in mid november.

I might be up for that. I've never hunted Seney. Close in Whetmore and Chatham, but never Seney. Sounds fun.

Trout where are you from? I live just south of Traverse City. I’ve hunted the UP for a lot of years. All of my hunting up there was north of Gladstone/Rapid River area.

I'm in the gaylord area. I've never hunted deer up there, just lots of fishing and blueberry picking.

I'm interested. Have been hunting the U.P. for 30 years but have never hunted outside of Marquette, Menominee and Delta counties.

Awesome, I'm really looking forward to this! I may extend my stay a couple/few days. Been planning a 7 day trip to north manitou in late October but the guys I was going with sound like they are getting cold feet. If that falls through, I will have more vacation time for this trip.

Cool idea!
If I can eat tag soup in WI, then I can do it in MI too!
Seriously, this sounds like fun.
