Ice Smackdown On Lakers !!

This weekend I hammered a couple of limits of Lakers ice fishing Michigan’s Higgins Lake. This was the most fun ice fishing I’ve had, as I got into some really big fish. My walleye sticks couldn’t handle these fresh water killers and I’m going to have to upgrade... a lot of times I had to point the rod straight down and fight the fish off the reel or the rod was going to snap!! I know, tough problem to have!! Plus, this me great reasons to get to my favorite hunting and fishing store and that is always a great thing! I posted my success on FB “Higgins Lake Angler” both days. It was pretty cool when FB “Buc’s Northern Michigan Fishing Report” picked up my post and got it out statewide. “Buc’s” sells crawlers and other bait across the State of Michigan. My ice season has come to an end and it’s time for me to put everything away.

A lakers trip through the ice is on my bucket list, maybe up in Superior. I’ve caught one on a tip up by mistake outa big green lake here in wisconsin. Its gotta be great to fight them with an ice rod and watch them chase on a sonar!! You have some great fish there bridge! Are you going to smoke them, grill them...?

I smoked a few I caught on Lake Michigan a couple years ago. They turned out pretty good.

I smoked a few I caught on Lake Michigan a couple years ago. They turned out pretty good.

Yeah I’ve always liked smoked lake trout, Great Lakes browns and other fish with a high fat content are great when smoked.

Well enjoy the fish bridge! I’m dealing with a medical issue of my own that’s keeping me off the ice. A bulldog got a hold of my nuts on Thursday. An emergency surgery and a few days of recovery later still have me feeling like an invisible midget is constantly kicking me in the balls every five minutes. It’s terrible.
