Hello guys, first post. I have been reading through the post and have picked up some info that matches up with experience that I or my papa have had. I feel like the beast style is gonna be my style from now on. This website is unique in a way because It seem almost everyone is very respectable towards each other, which is the way it should be. I bought one of Dan’s dvds and will probably buy another one.
Anyway, I have what may be a stupid question, lol. During rifle season when orange vest/hat is required would a ghillie suit be pointless?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Ghillie suit
I dont think so, the main benefit of a ghillie suit is it breaks up your outline better than "flat" camo. It would still do that better with an orange vest or hat. You could always make a hunter orange ghillie suit

Re: Ghillie suit
I think it would work. They make blaze orange leafy suits. I use a brown leafy and haven't gone "full ghillie".
I wonder if you could weave the correct number of blaze orange ribbons (to get your legal square inches) if that would work? Just tie in the required number of orange plastic marking ribbons after doing the math....then the poor DNR officer would have to do geometry to give you a ticket.

Thanks for the help Raisins and Trout. I sure hope nobody don’t see me in a ghillie suit with a orange vest, lol. I am already embarrassed enough carrying around my clown shoes...aka boot blankets.

Nobody can see you in a ghillie, so don't worry. They'll think an orange vest is floating around in the woods.

I didn’t think about it like that until you mentioned it Raisin...

I hunt from the ground, I am by no means an expert but over the last few years I have shot 2 nice bucks per year.. So take my opinion with a grain of salt. Even though I mostly play the wind and thermals I'm still a tickler for scent control, I can't see washing the suit every time I use it, I think it will fall apart. I have (stood still) skylined within 20 yards a few times and they have not made me out so I don't see the value of a gillie suit to begin with. Their vision is questionable at best but they are a 320° motion detector and I mean they will catch you blinking, Just my amateur 2 cents.
