Re: What a drag
I do not know the distance. My guess is 1.25 miles. Right off the lake, all uphill on the drag out. Took me 2.5 hours. Swore I would never do that again. I will either quarter the deer and pack out or get a boat. Lord only knows if that will be an option as the boat I want has been on order for close to 4 months.

Re: What a drag
Ruffly 3 miles is the longest I ever drug a deer. Also was the first and will forever be the last time I drag 2 deer that distance in one day.
Was dumb enough too shoot a doe while I was hooking the buck up to start dragging.
The wma's I hunt we can not ever cut up a kill it has to come out whole. They dont like it when i got them in the woods but they dont do anything about it. But breaking one down for pack out will get you a nice ticket.
Now what i do if i am more then a half mile back in.I have a sled and a cart and bring it in with me and stash it close by.

Re: What a drag
I did 700 yards almost straight uphill yesterday with a malfunctioning deer cart and severe asthma. Even with all the cardio I'm doing, I'm thinking that was enough for me to want to learn how to quarter
I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
